The Eastman
About This Spot
Stepping into The Eastman, nestled just below the cozy bustle of Dessert Oasis Coffee in Rochester, feels like slipping into a tucked-away refuge. The warm, dim lighting paired with the gentle hum of quiet conversation creates an intimate setting that invites you to slow down and savor the moment. This is the kind of bar where time softens and the outside world slips gently away, replaced by the comforting glow of a beautifully crafted space.
Though it’s compact, The Eastman never feels cramped—the carefully designed layout, anchored by a striking glass ceiling, opens the room with an airy sophistication. It’s a place where you can settle in at the bar or find a small table, sharing stories and laughter with friends or simply watching the attentive bartenders in their element.
The true heartbeat here lies in the thoughtful service and the artful cocktails. From a perfectly balanced Martini to playful twists like the Eastman Espresso or a refreshingly smooth Mai Tai, each drink feels carefully considered, a reflection of both craftsmanship and personality. The menu nods to comforting classics with unexpected touches, inviting you to linger over a cider, an Irish Coffee, or a creamy horchata, each sip a small discovery that adds to the overall experience.
While the food offerings may be light and designed more for sharing—think charcuterie and simple bites—they complement the drinks without stealing the spotlight. The emphasis is on creating a cozy, unhurried atmosphere where a well-made cocktail can genuinely shine.
What makes The Eastman special isn’t just what’s in the glass, but how the space encourages quiet connection—a place where approachable, knowledgeable bartenders add a spark of warmth and fun, turning a brief stop into a memorable pause. Whether you swing by for a quick drink while waiting nearby or call it an evening destination, this small yet elegant cocktail bar holds a subtle charm that lingers well beyond your last sip.

Appalled by the service of this place. Really small but classy ambiance going on here with a gorgeous glass ceiling. Didn't really try any of their meals since there wasn’t too many options other than charcuterie boards peanuts etc. Just the drinks. Nicholas is incredible!! Loved the energy of these servers they all were so ecstatic to take our orders. Will definitely be back with a few friends. (Also made me the greatest spritzer I have ever had.. ask nick for his specialty)

Popped into Eastman in Rochester for about an hour while waiting for our dinner reservation nearby, and it ended up being a great little find. The place is small but has a cool, intimate feel—perfect for a quick drink with friends. Service was on point and super friendly. The small plates were decent, just your standard options, but the drinks were definitely the highlight. Overall, a solid spot for a quick stop.

When in Rochester, I love to come to Dessert Oasis Coffee. The Eastman is a tiny craft bar in the basement. It maybe has 30 seats, and that’s capacity-standing is not permitted. Staying at the Royal Park, this is just a short walk away. I found a seat at the bar. The space has the feel of a refuge from the hustle and bustle, dimly lit, rich and warm. Kitty was at the bar when I visited and took great care of me whilst I was there. I tried a cocktail on the menu, it was great-balanced, and interesting. I’d recommend trying something out of your comfort zone a bit, this is the place to explore. What I didn’t originally understand is “bartenders choice”. I had seen Kitty dunk a straw into a drink, using it to capture a quick sample. “Do you always check all of your drinks?” “No”, she replied, “just the bartender’s choice drinks”. I went on to ask what that was, and she said you can give her like a spirit, or a style and she’ll craft something. Intrigued, I did that for my second (and third!) round. She crafted an amazing gin drink for me with suze, chartreuse, grapefruit and a local tea from the tea shop down the street. Truly one of the best drinks I’ve had. Highly recommend checking this out.

A small menu of shareable. Very friendly, knowledgeable and fun staff. There is a waitlist but it took less than 10 minutes on a Friday night for 2 spots to open up. A cool swanky decor nestled behind the coffee shop with an amazing, well thought out craft cocktail list.

The atmosphere of this place was ineffable. It is located under the Dessert Oasis in Rochester. The bartending staff was very efficient, but also easily held a conversation while making four drinks at a time. We had bartender Jackson, who made our drink decisions very easy as well as making two N/A cocktails that were impeccable. This is now my favorite cocktail bar close to home. I wouldn't recommend any other bar over this one outside of Detroit. Love it! Instagram: @funas_eats_it

Drinks are always solid. Classic and new classics. Went early this time before heading out to dinner. Love the vibe.
